4imaginaryboys
Indie deejays, indie promoters
4imaginaryboys is a collective of four indie deejays for whom Ian Curtis is a lifestyle and John Peel is a religion.
The group, who is known for travelling with crates of obscure vinyls, has played to audiences at resident nights (LiquidRoom), bazaar afternoons (Zouk), featured sessions (Butter Factory, Camp at Dempsey) and Echo Shibuya since 2005.
In 2010, they played for a second time at Esplanade’s alternative rock festival, Baybeats.
When not behind the decks, 4imaginaryboys is also a boutique promoter of indie music who, together with our partners in Asia, curates and promotes alternative gigs in this part of the world.
4imaginaryboys is involved in all aspects of tour management including accommodation arrangements, venue selection/booking, securing of performance licences and backline requirements, as well as effective marketing of the events.
our philosophy
It’s simple – we must be REAL FANS of the acts that we are promoting.
We started to do gig promotion not as a business venture but as a way to further express our passion and appreciation for the music that we feel. Each gig is a carefully considered process in terms of venue, production, logistic, promotion and most importantly, connection to the fans.
Both audiences and bands appreciate 4imaginaryboys’ thoughtful and creative approach to bringing the artistes and their music to the fans. When 4imaginaryboys staged Mark Kozelek’s acoustic gig at the unexpected Old Parliament Building in Singapore, audiences had this to say: “Love the ambience and venue. Very fitting for Mark’s style of delivery.” and “this is awesome ”.
“i wanted to say thanks again for the wonderful time in singapore! i hope to do it again.” – Mark Kozelek
“We want to thank everyone over at 4imaginaryboys for making our first time in Singapore one of the greatest tour experiences of our lives and helping to create an over the top live experience for our fans over there” – Larry Gorman, Asobi Seksu
Events promoted by 4imaginaryboys in 2010 & 2011 include:
• Swedish indie darlings The Radio Dept.
• Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters
• Asobi Seksu, dreampop shoegazers from New York
• Supersonic Sound Fest 2010, an South East Asian shoegaze event featuring Under The Velvet Sky (Singapore), Stellarium (Singapore), Sharesprings (Indonesia) and Mellonyellow (Indonesia)
