Come Saturday, young adult friction never looked so good coz us boys have Hong Kong’s top indie DJ collective cum gig promoter, SONGS FOR CHILDREN, to wreck the decks together at BluJaz Space!
Disappointed with the lack of indie parties in Hong Kong, Scottish couple, Mike Mystery and Jane Blondel, launched SONGS FOR CHILDREN, an unpretentious night of dancing, sing-a-longs and unapologetic fun. Armed with their tambourines and signature ‘No Coldplay Guarantee’, the duo has since become a staple in the city’s burgeoning indie music scene.
Other than these crazy nights, SONGS FOR CHILDREN have brought countless indie acts such as The Drums, Yuck, Asobi Seksu to Hong Kong.
So gather your dancing shoes and head down to BLUJAZ this Saturday for another fun LOADED night! woohoo!!!

Join us in this significant music event at The Pigeonhole on December 2nd where us boys celebrate the half-decade anniversary of 4imaginaryboys as we partner with some of the finest indie DJ collectives that we have shared the decks and drinks with in the past 5 good and memorable years:
Partnered by Knight Runners in the provision of state of the art sight & sound + Heart of Glass DJs, this event is also held in collaboration with UpToTheSky Music and Video festival to be held on 3 December (Sat) at Old School featuring some of the finest indie bands from all over the world including Southeast Asia and Singapore.
And now, about the DJs for the night
spaceman (vapour trails)
vapour trails was started by the guys at the facebook group, shoegaze singapore after lamenting the lack of representation of the genre at the clubs.
their nights were memorable as they were regularly stopped by the cops for being too loud.
spacemen is a regular DJ in keeping the gaze alive.
pop pal (p!o!p!kiss!)
Pop pal has been listening to music for the longest time and had an indie night back then named ‘Heavenly Option’ when indie is foreign to just about everyone. That event went on for a few events then it stopped. He has decided to start p!o!p!kiss! with some friends in 2011 to share good music with people. That was how pop pal is back to share music moments with friends. See you on the dance floor.
groovygenie (Twee Like Me)
chief of Singapore’s first indie label, Fruit Records and the man who brought Jens Lekman to our shiny/ rainy island.
brace yourself for some of the finest northern soul from this genie!
ray & vikki (cafe cosmo)
owners of the defunct cafe cosmo, the first truly cafe dedicated to indie music in Singapore. those who have been there should remember the riotous time that the duo cooked up each time.
KidG (Heart of Glass)
From white boy funk to krautrock, dub and mind-warping electronics, come expecting an untypical dance set whenever KiDG takes the deck.
A regular on Meshradio and the drummer of Singapore indie bands Livonia and Shelves, KiDG’s eclectic tastes have always inspired the listener in the dancer to seek out more music. And while being inspired by the likes of David Holmes, Andy Votel and Gilles Peterson himself, he only wants to see one thing when he plays his music – people having fun!
Rachel (Heart of Glass)
Fresh from Pop Studio by Pop Trash, Rachel is the ghost in the back of your head, stalking the urban catwalk in the prime of her youth. With an eclectic outlook, her humble beginnings in her bedroom allowed her to experiment & indulge in all forms of art, fantasizing in the act of creating & blending swirling melodies altogether
Heart Of Glass returns, this time to The Pigeonhole at Duxton Road, on 30th September. Get ready for another night of alternative dancing, featuring live performances & visual projections, as well as ballistic beats & unconventional indie grooves that will set your tushie on fire!
Brought to you Breezer by Barcardi and by tastemakers at Knight Runners, Heart Of Glass is a unique event dedicated to take indie back to where it belongs. Unrestricted by stiff clubbing rules, it’s the place where anything goes. Swoon to the soundscapes of shoegaze & dream pop, pogo to the white boy funk of post-punk & krautrock, & grind along to the machines of industrial amidst the waves of darkness. Taking to the decks for this special night will be DJs Sean Alex, 4imaginaryboys (yes! us boys!), KiDG & Kenneth F. It’s gonna be a night of dancing to prepare you for future daze. Come expect the unexpected & lose yourself to the wayward beat!
And that’s not all, there will also be a live performance by local electronic rock outfit, Dualtone, of whom local DJ legend X’Ho once described as the “homegrown female answer to Nine Inch Nails… with less aggression & more seductive angst”. And together with visual projection & live percussion (courtesy of Boey of Breakbeat Theory), it will be a party you won’t forget. More info on the Facebook event page here.

Under The Velvet Sky (SG) is a psyche, freejazz and avant garde improv band consisting of the core members, Jordan, Arif, Imran, Zul, Din and Fendy. Utilising the use of multi instruments of various ethnicities, they forged a multitude of flavours backed by pulsating visceral bass lines and psyche grooves. The band has released the magnum opus EP entitled ‘Black Sea Sorcery’ and has played various shows in SG as well as the Echo Fest in Jakarta to a welcoming cult audience both local and overseas
Stellarium (SG) is a band that prides itself as ‘earbleedwaxpopsupersonicwhitenoisesoundfeedbackfuzzkill’, or in other words; intense, explosive, fuzzed out psychodelica and rock ‘n roll mixed in with early 90s concepts as well as post-punk, their self-titled album have been on UK’s Drowned In Sound, France’s Ca Depend Des Jours and NYC’s Deli Magazine as well as local national newspapers The Straits Times and Today. They’re not here to impress, they’re just here to melt your faces and they certainly enjoy doing it. Get Fuzzbombed.
MellonYellow (JKT) is Bintang, Gita, Bagus and Tyo. Hailing from Jakarta, these guys have a shared madness of fuzz boxes and dancing at the wrong time and place. Jokes aside, after last year’s self-released Milk Calcium EP, they released a CD-R single for ‘Never Own You’ and contains a healthy dose of early 90s shoegaze sounds. Sometimes age becomes troublesome in a certain way, but the band still doesn’t know how to stop, and it’s still for a reason: FUN.
Sharesprings (JKT) established an element of late 80 and early 90 music with their simple structure of indie pop combined with shoegaze as well as a noisy ambience. Bridging the gap between the indie pop of Yo La Tengo and the noise twee of MBV’s early, Sharesprings built a reputation by infusing twee in their songs and are well loved by many. These nice guys have released a single under a well known compilation, Half Dreaming, released by Quince Records, Japan and plans to follow up with another single right here in Supersonic Sound Fest 2010 in Singapore!
