in case you don’t know about oupa, it is a side project for yuck’s frontman, daniel, and they used to be called yu(c)k. however the name got too confusing for everyone so they changed from yu(c)k to oupa.
this is the 2nd time we are featuring the hobbes fanclub.
after their debut on cloudberry records, they are back with a split CD single with indonesian indiepop band, leach me lemondade, on a new indiepop label, dufflecoat records.
here’s an interesting story full of jangle and fuzz, heartbreak and love about them:
Leon is from Bradford, England, and started writing and recording as The Hobbes Fanclub in late 2008. In early 2010 he asked Fabi Karpinski from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to join him, having met each other online. Despite never actually meeting in person, the two of them subsequently released two split singles, first in June 2010 with Young Michelin on Cloudberry Records and then in February 2011 they released a further split with Leach Me Lemonade, the first release on new indiepop label, Dufflecoat Records.
In May 2011 Fabi stepped down from the band, and Leon was joined by fellow Bradfordians Louise on bass and Adam on drums, both of whom he has actually met in person. The band are set to play Glasgow Popfest in December 2011, and are looking forward to playing more shows later in the year.
this is a track from craft spells’ album, idle labor.
idle labor is easily one of the best albums of this year.
pop by to captured tracks and grab a copy now.
no regrets!
in Feb 2011, jj was invited to Asia by 4imaginaryboys and Songs For Children to do a gig in Singapore and Hong Kong.
at the end of the gigs, both countries were mesmerised by their charms.
as a token of their appreciation, they have decided to release a track from the gig in Singapore as a free download on our website.
this is an acoustic version of “let them” recorded live at Helipad, Singapore. enjoy!!!
Also check out the latest video from jj – Los ángeles en Asia which features the song “angels” and scenes taken in Hong Kong.
here’s a cute video for cults’ one of the 2 7″ singles that the band released for record store day.
we have been going on and on about cults like a broken record but it’s for a good reason.
the band’s releases so far are very impressive.
their debut full length will be out in june and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
